Sooo my school has a Winter Term program, which means we get the whole month of January as more or less a break, and there are a few different things you can do:

take one class (usually something interesting like cooking or Irish folksongs or some other obscure topic, whatever the professor wants) that you go to for, like, four hours a day four days a week, but that's all you do all month...

go somewhere to do research (that's been approved by a professor) and write a paper at the end (one girl went to Hawaii to "study sea turtles." Yeah, I bet she was looking at sea turtles the whole time.)...

if you're super homesick, you can even take one of the four years and just go home for a month...

Or, if you're super ambitious, you can sign up for one of the Winter Term programs.

I signed up to go to Japan, and got accepted.

I am SO FREAKING EXCITED.

I'm thinking about potentially majoring in Asian Studies... English and Computer Science are also potential majors, but I've been learning a lot about some of the asian countries lately, and I really want to learn more. So at the moment Asian Studies is top of my list. So, of course, one of the things I really want to do is visit the countries that I want to study. It's only two weeks, so it'll just be a taste... but this is WAY better than waiting until Junior year [I'm a first-year] or wasting my time on a pointless class that doesn't really accomplish anything. Apparently there are really fun classes, but also classes that are a giant, boring waste of time... and it all depends on the professor. So, I opted for the Japan route.

I CAN'T WAIT.

On the artsy side of things... I've had a bit of art block lately, and when I'm not art blocked, I'm swamped with school work. This college thing is tough! But super fun and awesome, I'm loving it to death so far. Everyone I've met is awesome, all my classes and professors are awesome... my roomies are great... it's kind of scary how well everything is going.

Here's hoping for a continuation of the same.

Oh, and I'm currently obsessed with Star Trek. The new movie is insanely awesome. Don't even try to deny it.

okay. some realizations these past coupe weeks that are slightly more than frustrating.

1. my most productive hours seem to be around one in the morning. why is this frustrating? I have alllll day to do whatever i want, as long as i can sleep. but when i'm awake at one in the morning, i don't get enough sleep. or i sleep til noon, and mum gets mad 'cause my eating schedule gets weird and i'm not around the family enough. v____v;

2. i have absolutely no control over my creativity. i swear, all year i've been trying and trying to come up with ideas, to put aside and work on when i have time. and these last couple days it's been like CREATIVITY SPLOSION. and i have nooo idea why/how. it only happens about once a year, it seems, and when i can't work on it. >< although i guess i kinda can now, but this week is definitely more hectic than others have been.

blarghhh so frustrating. i can't seem to work at all if i feel like i have all the time in the world--it's only nighttime, when i feel like i have to wrap it up and go to sleep, that i can do anythingggg.

i should be doing way more art then i have been. hopefully that will change soon.

that aside, i'm super crazy excited for this webcomic/story idea i've been working on. xD and i though of another that i can do if i get bored. <3 so i'm in a good place atm. but knowing my record, it won't last long, so i gotta enjoy it while it's here!

i've also been going to the highschool (what? i went back after i grajitated?? lol) to help the elementary schoolers by painting a backdrop for them. it's super stressful but crazy fun and i'm really glad i agreed to help :] the munchkins are SO CUTE<3

anddd after our vacation, i get to go back and paint the WALLS. >D now that one i'm REALLY excited for. So overall, excitement definitely wins. but i'm still very frustrated at myself for being at the mercy of my tiny, very very rare creative bursts. i need to discover how to increase their frequency >[ rawrr.

umm, running around like crazy getting prints/bookmarks/keychains etc. readyyy. SO MUCH TO DO. it came up too fast againnn. And not fast enough at the same time....

My freaking SCHOOL decided Friday was the only day they could possibly have the concert! v_v; so even though at least six of s are going... rawrr. But we get to miss the schoolday, so it's not too bad, but we gotta leave the con early... but we'll be there all SAT and SUN... and it's THE LAST DAY OF CLASSES. LIEKWHOA.

ermm. So yeah. Running around like crazy, trying to get stuff done, trying not to get too behind on schoolwork... so no new arts really being done as of late. Hopefully that will change. I usually have doodle time at the con (at my table xDDD Yaaay AA table!<333) for which to art, but not always... ANYWAY. Suuuper excited. I got all fangirly with some underclassmen from my school today who are also going x333 SO MUCH FUN.

And catching up on some of my anime/manga... like Bleach, which I've been dreadfully behind on... wahh. :[ sooo yeah. Good times. busybusybusy.

I'm currently working on FE fanart! Finallyyyy! it's Matt and Guy, of course... my favorite characters of all time<333 (especially together... >3) well, with the exception of Edward, of course. xD The three are all so different from one another....

Anyhow, Matt's coming out good for a change, but I'm having some trouble with Guy. Hopefully I'll get it done sooner or later and not give up on it halfway through... I have six or so other things I've started in photoshop, gotten halfway through, and then decided I hated and subsequently scrapped.... but Matt's success might motivate me to finish. We'll see!

I have lots of homework I need to do this weekend D: I'm going to try to catch up on my novel revision *is lagging behind and cheating on it by making it look like she did more than she actually did* D: Also, I've started jogging with a friend of mine Dx it totally sucks right now, but I'm hoping it gets better....

OH! and I found an amazing series on mangafox called Kaichou wa Maid-sama!<333 (the student council president is a maid)it is thoroughly enjoyable. Much less cliche/predictable than some of the stuff I've been reading. And ALL of the characters are interesting/likeable/AMAZING >D none are lke "GRAARGH I WANT ___ TO DIE!!! >OOO" which is also a nice change.
